More on Flock
A few days ago I made a test post from the Flock browser. As I stated in that post, Flock is based on Firefox, and therefore MOST (Not all) of my Firefox addons work. Some of the ones that don’t work aren’t needed due to the enhanced functionality of the built-in features of the browser.
One of the things about it that I’m not thrilled about is the way it handles my del.icio.us bookmarks. Flock can bookmark sites locally, or directly post and retreive your shared and private del.icio.us bookmarks. The problem is that there is no organization to the way it brings in the tags. I would like for it to alphabetize the tag list to make it easier to find what I’m looking for. I haven’t been able to discern how it sorts the bookmark list yet, but most of what I use regularly I put in my bookmarks toolbar so I’m not super worried about that. Maybe they will fix that in an upcoming version.
I’m also very impressed with its blog posting tool. I’m using it to make this post to my WordPress weblog. It includes technorati tagging and WordPress categories and allows embedding of Youtube videos and Flickr Images (if you have accounts at those services). It also has a web clipboard for easy transplanting of content from other web services into your blog post.
After a week, I like it enough that I’m going to continue using it as my primary browser for now.
